ABOUT PRAIRIE FEATHER FORGE

I've always been drawn to making things by hand.

Long before I began working in silver, I was captivated by art, texture, and the stories that objects can carry. That passion led me to earn a degree in Fine Art, where I developed an appreciation for thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and the small details that transform something beautiful into something meaningful.

My love of jewelry began with turquoise. There was something about the stone, the artistry of traditional silversmithing, and the connection to the landscapes of the American West that captured my imagination. Over time, that fascination grew into a desire to create my own work - pieces that reflect both the places that inspire me and the care that goes into making something by hand.

Today, I work from my home studio and forge, creating handcrafted silver jewelry one piece at a time. My work is inspired by the windswept prairies, desert canyons, weathered stone, native grasses, and wide-open spaces that have shaped my sense of place. The West is woven into everything I create—not as a trend, but as a source of inspiration and connection.

Every piece begins with an idea, a sketch, a texture, or a detail found in the landscape. From there, it is carefully shaped, refined, and finished by hand. I embrace the subtle variations and character that come from the handmade process because I believe those details are what give an object its soul.

Stone selection is one of my favorite parts of the creative process. Every stone is hand chosen for its color, matrix, character, and individuality. I am particularly drawn to turquoise from historic and long-forgotten mines, many of which are no longer producing or accessible today. These stones carry a sense of history and place that cannot be replicated. Their natural variations, unique patterns, and distinctive personalities become an essential part of each design, ensuring that every piece is truly one of a kind.

I create jewelry to be worn and lived in. Pieces that become part of everyday adventures, special occasions, and personal stories. Pieces that feel at home on a dusty trail, in a mountain town, around a campfire, or shared between generations of people who appreciate craftsmanship and authenticity.

Prairie Feather Forge is rooted in a love of the West, a respect for traditional craftsmanship, and a belief that the things we choose to wear can help tell the story of who we are.

Thank you for being here and for supporting handmade work.
